Operation: Get closer to Him and stay away from sin

Jude 1:24- "Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault"

Blessings everybody.
We are STILL under lock-down and personally I've had enough now. Even those who have missed Nandos before have never missed Nandos like this before.

Since we can't gather together as Christians in real life, it may be a bit hard to stay on fire. Especially because during these times of trials, we need to remain strong in the faith. So, I decided to just lay out on the table the things I have been doing to help me pick up the pace in my walk.

I saw a tweet that said something along the lines of  'if your walk slows down in this season you have to ask yourself, are you in love with your church or with Christ?'

Crikey that tweet was screaming. After reading that, I began to evaluate by daily routine and kept record of how many hours I spent with God daily.

Lets just say, I could have done better. So I literally started from scratch. I decided I wanted to learn about God for myself and build OUR relationship. I think ministry had got me so busy during the last term that I began to neglect MY relationship with Him. I wanted to reconnect with my Father.

Anyway, enough about me. Let's get into this post. I pray someone finds this useful.

A few things you can do to get closer to God and stay away from sin this season

Psalm 119:9(NLT)- "9 How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.10 I have tried hard to find you - don't let me wander from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."

Now is the time to get deeper into Bible study. It's time to take your quiet time to the next level. If you're not sure what quiet time is, it's basically your time alone with God. You can spend this time by reading His word, reading books to help you understand Christianity more, worshiping Him, watching/listening to sermons or even writing like I am right now.
Hide His Word in your heart so that you won't sin against Him.

I was on a Zoom call some time ago with some brothers and we were in fellowship with  and sharing with each other. One of the guys said that there was a time when he was quite lukewarm (back in the day) and he went to meet a girl. On the way, the scripture Psalm 119:9 (as above) popped into his head. He felt convicted and turned around STRAIGHT away. This is the perfect example - he had the word of God is his heart so it was able to prevent him from falling too far. This was only possible because he read the Psalm and kept it in his heart some days before. Although he isn't perfect, he made an effort to hide the word in his heart and it kept him from sinning.

As young people we are often caught up in our lives and we forget to recharge our spiritual batteries. Now we have all the time in world to get closer to Him. I'm NOT saying that this is something to do when you're bored or when you have nothing to do but I am saying that we should put in more effort now because we have no excuse not to. Most of us don't even log-in to our online lectures so Uni isn't even an excuse. Pull out different translations, open a dictionary next to you and see what some of those seeketh thou art words mean. Research things for yourself.

Romans 10:17 (NLT)- "So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ"

Next thing I like to do is listen/watch online sermons and take notes on things that stick out to me. When I first started to read my Bible, I was confused; I didn't know where to start. After listening to sermons and watching preaching on YouTube, I had a few scriptures on deck and I started from there. Faith comes by hearing the Good News (NKJV refers to it as the word of God) Some of these sermons may have a word for your situation. You just need to listen, tap in and have faith!!

Here are a few podcasts that I know of, but I'm sure there are more out there.
I'm only going to link Spotify because it's the best. If you use Apple Music, Deezer or even Tubidy
Grow up, please and thanks.

Hebrews 10:25 (NLT) - "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as people do, but encourage one another, especially one another, especially now that the day of his return drawing near"

Being a part of 'Christian twitter', my TL is saturated with the word. I happened to come across a fellowship for brothers. Yes, brothers with brothers and sisters with sisters. There's one for the sisters too so I'll link them below.
But yeah, the fellowship has been great so far. It's an amazing opportunity to meet brothers and make new friends from other churches and a great chance to grow and pray with other people. I thank God I stumbled across it to be honest.

Apart from that, my Church has a group chat. We're always sharing and talking. Making sure that we keep in touch with each-other has become our top priority. Even outside of Church group-chats, there are some Bible Study group-chats that I've seen around.
Some of the content of some other group-chats are INTERESTING. Instead of filling your phone with that nonsense, why not saturate it with something edifying :))))
On top of that, at Kharis Church we are so lucky to have live streams on Thursday and Sunday. I know loads of other churches are doing the same thing too and it's honestly amazing. If you don't have a Church yet or your Church isn't streaming anything, I'll link a few below and you keep updated with them to make sure you tune to their next live stream.
Fellowship is very important just as I've spoken about here before. We must not forsake the gathering  of the saints #PDAK

Lastly, something else that my friends and I do. We do Bible plans together. Yeah, there are some plans you might prefer to do by yourself but be humble and contact that iron-sharpening friend and keep each other accountable whilst you do Bible plans. Also we use the app Verses to help memorize Bible Scriptures. So for all of you who still can't recite your favorite Bible scripture, now is the time to get busy and hide the word in your heart.
